The Problem
SiteBoss encountered a challenge with their partially developed product, primarily concerning the flow and user experience, as their research findings needed effective implementation. Given the unique requirement of operating in extreme daylight conditions, acquiring specialized devices with increased luminance and higher nit specifications was essential. Furthermore, to enhance the user experience, increasing visibility on the tablet was imperative.
The Solution
A comprehensive approach was taken to address SiteBoss's challenges with its partially developed product and enhance the user experience for extreme daylight conditions. Competitive research, client research, and stakeholder interviews were conducted to gain deep insights into the user requirements. It was clear that sleek designs and small features wouldn't suffice. Instead, we focused on creating a user experience that catered to users' needs by implementing more prominent icons, high-contrast lettering, and larger-than-usual features, all aimed at increasing visibility during use. In addition, specialized devices with screens featuring higher luminance and enhanced nit specifications were ordered to ensure optimal performance in extreme daylight conditions. This approach effectively addressed the flow and user experience concerns, aligning the product with user expectations.

Process

“It’s definitely an upgrade from what we used before. It’s lighter and very user friendly. The support request works well too, support got right on the phone with me and helped with what I needed.”

As the UX Designer, I worked closely with stakeholders to gather insights, drawing from their internal research, competitive analysis, an evaluation of existing screens, and stakeholder interviews. Utilizing these findings, I developed user flows and a strategic roadmap. I then translated these insights into tangible concepts by crafting wireframes and interactive prototypes, subject to testing and feedback from stakeholders— this iterative process culminated in the product's successful launch, now accessible at https://siteboss.com/.

Empathize

SiteBoss approached me with their near-complete product. SiteBoss was focused on enhancing the user experience of their product. The product was primarily used in bright sunlight conditions. Stakeholder interviews revealed the need for high-contrast design elements, larger icons, and prominent features, in addition to specialized screens with increased luminance and higher nit specifications, which were procured to meet these demands.

In conclusion, the "Empathize" phase for SiteBoss was a vital starting point in the design journey. Through stakeholder interviews, competitive research, and client research, I gained a comprehensive understanding of project objectives, user expectations, and client requirements. This knowledge laid the groundwork for a user-centric and informed design process, ensuring that SiteBoss would meet both industry standards and the unique needs of its users and stakeholders.

Prototyping

I aimed to take the user flows, research, and insights and turn them into interactive prototypes. Here are some of the steps I took to do this:

Overall, the iterative prototyping process allowed me to create a functional and user-friendly design that met the needs of the target users.
